Meet the many faces of Lowney’s!
Joe has spent 25 years in the landscaping field, and started Lowney’s with his father Dennis ‘Skeeter’ Lowney in 1997 while attending the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. The business moved to its current Richmond Street location in Grand Chute in 2006, and Joe became the sole owner the following year.
Joe graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with a Business Minor in 1999. He admittedly enjoys every aspect of landscape construction, from conceptualization to installation, and has a passion for the development and realization of elaborate hardscape projects and outdoor living spaces.
When not attending to business at the office, or involved in a project on a job site, Joe delights in spending time with his wife and sons. He also enjoys sports, and is an avid outdoorsman.
Christine has been designing landscapes for residential and commercial clients throughout Northeast Wisconsin since 2000. Her years attending the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, where she graduated with a BS in Horticulture, were the initial source of inspiration. Through her horticultural studies, Christine gained an appreciation for woody ornamentals and herbaceous perennials. In her agricultural engineering classes, she gained an understanding of surveying, landscape construction and computer drafting.
A licensed Landscape Architect in the state of Wisconsin since 2011, Christine’s designs range from small, simple planting beds to comprehensive plans of astounding complexity including: drainage plans, retaining wall systems, intimate outdoor living spaces such as outdoor kitchens, and master plans for residential homes and commercial construction sites. She takes considerable enjoyment in developing hardscape elements and plant combinations suitable for the particular site conditions each landscape offers. Several of her designs have received awards from the WLCA.
When out of the office, Christine volunteers at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. As a nature enthusiast, she partakes in activities ranging from vegetable gardening, to playing outdoor recreational sports with friends and family, to hiking in the state and national park systems, where she finds natural inspiration for her landscape designs.

Steve enjoys working with homeowners in creating or renovating outdoor living spaces, and beautifying their property through custom landscape designs. He strives to fulfill the customer’s landscape goals while making it an enjoyable experience.

Chris Van Groll
Our Production Manager Chris Van Groll is currently in his 19th year in the landscaping industry. His initiation involved planting a seemingly endless supply of balled & burlapped trees during a stint as a summer helper. Eventually, this expanded into full time employment.
Chris graduated from the UW-Madison in 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Horticulture, and a Business certificate. In 2003, while still pursuing his degree at the university, he started a wholesale perennial growing operation that is currently celebrating its 15th year.
Although he genuinely enjoys multiple aspects of the industry, Chris’s passion lies in creating custom outdoor living areas using various hardscape materials.
Outside of landscaping, Chris places a great value on spending time with his family and friends. Whether it’s on the water, or in the woods, he enjoys every aspect of nature, and takes great pride in passing on what he has learned to his two beloved daughters.
